I have learned that my life doesn't end with an ostomy. In fact, it's like my life has just began.

Don't be afraid. Everything will be alright.

My daughter is an ostomate. She has been a pillar of strength through tests, surgeries and countless doctors. We have kept an air of himor about it, as much as we can. She is only 14 and has handled this struggle with more courage than most adults I know. I would love tp win this and gift it to her...she would get a kick out of it. Especially considering she no longer has a colon. :)

My pre-op advice to myself would be - ‘This is going to save your life. Sometimes you wil wake up covered in s#!t but it will wash off, and you'll be able to get out of bed, into the shower and do that yourself.'
